A Love So Tragic was my first read from this author, and it gave me everything I wanted in a Saturday morning read. The angst, steam, heartache, and great story kept the pace steady and made this easy to breeze through. Nic and Peyton had such chemistry that time, distance, and other relationships couldn't take away from their undeniable connection. Both characters think they have morals that would prevent them from being in this situation, but they're one another's exceptions in life. I am not usually a fan of cheating, but this story became one of my exceptions, too. A Love So Tragic was perfectly named and described my heart watching these two former lovers spin back into each other's lives and navigate this new terrain. I'm glad I downloaded this and would be interested in other works from Stevie J. Cole in the future.Product details

The title says it all.
A love so tragic.
BELIEVE it.
Peyton and Nic, first love, true love , painful love.
Sometimes that love is not meant to be.
When is it time to give up on that kind of love?
Is it ever time to give up?
I think everyone can connect with this book because I think everyone has this kind of
love. I know I have. One so painful that if things would have been different we would
have been together, if we would have just done this, or done that. A whole bunch of
what IF's.
This story gutted me, and then I would put it down.
Pick it up, read some more. GUT me, throw my kindle.
Pick it up, gut me, throw it. Pick it up, gut me.
Repeat.
Yeah, it is one of those stories..
I can't even put into words what this book did to me.
This is my first book by Stevie and it won't be my last.
She has a gift in making you want to grab a tub of ben and jerry's and drown
your sorrows. I wonder if all her books are like this?
Woman has a career in writing let me tell you!!!
I won't give anything away cause what would be the fun in that?
You just have to read it to find out all the juicy stuff, but you really don't want
to miss this book. You get it all. First love, sorrow, mourning, angst, sex, best friends,
and so much more..
Thank you Stevie for a very passionate novel .. It took me 3 days to read it only because I had to put it down from time to time to breathe through the anxiety it was giving me... props to you!!!
I am almost at a loss for words on how much I loved this book. It is not an easy read in fact it may be the front runner in all those ugly cry book lists at the end of 2016. It is raw and honest. It makes you think and examine the things you said you would never do and the person you swore you would never become. Because when you have a love like Nic and Peyton, what wouldn't you do to be with that person? They were childhood sweethearts until an argument and a mistake in judgement drive them apart. In Peyton's words, "To know that I f'ed up my own fairytale - that's the worst feeling I've ever had." When Peyton's mom passes away, Nic returns for the funeral bringing him back into Peyton's world. I won't summarize the story after that point because its something you should really just experience for yourself. Just know that these characters are not perfect and they make very human decisions and mistakes.
At times I almost felt panicked and had to make myself turn the page. You might think that means this is a horrible book but its exactly the opposite. The author does an incredible job of making you feel Peyton and Nic's emotions. From the first chapter when Peyton loses her mom, I was enthralled with the writing. There is a paragraph at the end of that chapter that so perfectly sums up what I can only imagine to be the feelings at the loss of a mother.
"There is an absence that overwhelms you when you lose your mother, and it's one I can't explain. It's emptiness at its greatest, a chasm ripping through the core of your soul. Your mother is the one person who has been with you throughout your life. Her voice is the first you hear before the world even knows who you are, her heartbeat the song of comfort your life forms to, and when you lose the person who gave you life, a part of you dies along with them."
I don't often bookmark pages and passages in books but I did with ALST. This paragraph I think sums up the book perfectly.
"As much as you may want to, you can't make yourself love someone, and as much as it sucks, you can't make yourself not love someone either. Love is its own f'ing beast."
After reading the book, I sent Stevie a message about how much I loved it. She said she was just hoping to live up to the amazing cover and I told her the writing exceeded the beautiful cover. Definitely pick up A Love So Tragic. Its beautifully written and will hook you from the very beginning!
We all know readers hate stories about cheating and cheaters. blah, blah, blah. Love isn't perfect and neither is life. If you've never been tempted to stray, you're a dreamer. I don't believe that people should accept misery in life. Circumstances can drive people to do all sorts of crazy things. I don't judge. I simply try to understand. And on so many levels I understood this story and I sympathized with the characters who were young when they made most of their mistakes. When they tried to correct them, life had simply gone in directions that made it difficult for them to start over together. It happens! I loved the rawness and the realness of characters and how they just couldn't let each other go. That is love. The real type. This is a great story. I loved the secondary characters too. This book will make you laugh and cry and the words will tug on your heart. Peyton always belonged to Nic and Nic belonged to Peyton and nothing in life could get in the way of that, including other people. I get it. Kudos to J. Cole.
